Musical Instrument Loan Scheme

Craobh Seán Treacy CCÉ wishes to give an opportunity to our members, particularly the younger ones, to diversify and to learn a variety of instruments. Recognising that many instruments are expensive and/or difficult to obtain because of long delivery times, a limited number of instruments are available on loan for short periods so that students may try them out before deciding to make a bigger investment of time and money. For instruments valued over €500 a refundable deposit of 10% is required in advance which will be repaid on the return of the instrument in good condition

The usual period of loan is the music academic year, i.e. September to May. Instruments may be kept during the summer months by prior arrangement. A fee, related to the value of the instrument, is charged for each month of the 9 months.

The following terms and conditions apply -

Period of loan
Instruments may be lent from the beginning of September to the end of following May, i.e. the music academic year. Longer periods may be allowed, subject to no other requests for a loan of the instrument.

The instrument remains at all times the property of Craobh Sean Treacy CCÉ. Craobh Seán Treacy CCÉ may at their absolute discretion request the return of the instrument at any time.

Insurance
Insurance cover must be provided by the borrower. A copy of the insurance certificate must be presented to the Branch before an instrument will be given out on loan.

Fees
The current rate is 1.5% of the value of the instrument per month - for example an instrument valued at €1,000 would mean a charge of €15 for each of 9 months or €135 for the year. For an instrument valued €1,500 the charge would be €22.50 per month.

Any necessary repairs arising during the period the instrument is on loan must be carried out by the borrower. The instrument must be returned in the same condition as it was on the first day of the loan period.
